It's a great game and I'm really enjoying playing it on desktop. I would like to be able to play on my phone too, but I'll keep enjoying it no matter the device.

Oh, you might try talking to TD of Pale Carnations. Their game uses a similar technique as you do, but without using protected folders. He may have some pointers on what you could do.

Just so you know, your Android instructions aren't going to work for most people on versions newer than Android 10 (14 is current). The /Android/Data folder is a protected system folder and the user has no access without rooting. Even workarounds that let me see inside the Data folder still didn't let me copy files into it. Your app code will have to point to a location in the userspace like /Documents or similar to be compatible with current versions of Android.

Yes, mine were from 0.22.06 as well. I wasn't near my computer at the time and was going from memory. Always a bad idea!

According to the Stormside Discord, this is a known but intermittent problem on all platforms. No known solution yet. I just started my game over.

(1 edit)

I only recently found this and I've been really enjoying Stormside so far! Much funnier and cuter than I was expecting. I'm afraid I'm having a problem with the new release, though. I'm playing v. 0.23.1.4 on Mac and it launches fine but as soon as I try loading any save the game immediately hard crashes (force-quits itself immediately) and spits out a traceback crash log with:

"I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
Exception: Audio channel u'_movie_862_mask' is unknown.

I can post the entire traceback if you'd like.

All saves are from the most recent previous release (0.22.06) and both builds were downloaded from here or Patreon. Also, starting a new game seems to work fine. It's only loading saves that's the issue.

(Edited to correct prev. ver. # to 0.22.06 from 0.22.05)

Same issue on an Intel iMac running Monterrey 12.7.2. The game app simply will not launch at all, saying it's incompatible.

So I just downloadded the current Mac versions, and it wouldn't unzip when double-clicked in the Finder. I used a third-party app called The Unarchiver and that unzipped the downloaded file fine. I think perhaps whatever utility was used to zip the game for Itch did something a little non-standard and MacOS's built-in zip tool couldn't understand the file. If this is the problem you're having, try using The Unarchiver ( https://macpaw.com/the-unarchiver ). It's free, well-known, and also available from the App Store if you prefer getting your apps that way.

Hmm. Is this error on unzipping the download, or on trying to launch the app after unzipping?

If it's the security error about not opening unsigned applications, you can allow the app to run anyway but it's a little more complicated than the Windows method. Thankfully you only have to do it once. Immediately upon closing the error message, go to System Preferences, and then the Security & Privacy tab. At the bottom of the window will be a message about blocking the unsigned app you just tried to launch and a button to run it anyway. Click the button and it will pop up a confirmation dialog where you'll have to enter your system password. Once done the first time, the game will run every time afterward, at least until you download a new version. MacOS sees each new version as a different app.

Are you looking for Mac testers?

OoT was originally built in Ren'Py, but got ported over to Unity Engine for more recent development. Story Anon's coders have had serious problems getting the Unity version working outside of desktop environments. They're actively working on it, though, and have some mostly-working builds now. Hopefully they'll be able to knock out the last few serious bugs pretty soon.

Found it! For the other three of us on Macs, saves are in a folder at "~/Library/Application Support/com.LightningRoosterProuctions.OoT". Because it's inside the Library folder (which is a protected system folder) CMD-F won't show it. MacOS Spotlight however, will. Now I know where to restore from in my Time Machine backups if something gets screwed up. Thanks!

What about on Mac? That path doesn't exist on my machine. Thank you!

Thank you!

NM, I figured out what I was doing wrong...

So I think I've screwed something up and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to fix it. I'm trying to fix the front door light. I've accepted the task from the to-do list, but I didn't initially know what to do to go further. I wandered around and did other tasks for days and days in-game before finding out I needed to go to my kitchen to grab the stool. Now when I try there is no [!] icon, so I can't get the stool to fix the light. I've tried morning, noon, night, and late; and I've tried on multiple different weekdays with no result. Have I waited too long? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks!

Is it possible to extract an Android save file and use it in a PC or Mac install of the game? I started playing on my phone and I'm really enjoying the game, but I'd prefer to move it over to my computer and I don't want to lose my progress so far. Any chance or am I SOL?

Thanks!
